What 2022 could mean for Atlanta United & USMNT defender Miles Robinson

If 2021 is going to happen, 2022 could be a huge year for Robinson. After making his USMNT debut in 2019, Robinson burst onto the international scene earlier this year, starting every US Gold Cup match and scoring the match-winning goal against Mexico to win the Gold Cup Final in overtime. In the World Cup qualifiers, Robinson started six of Yanke’s eight qualifiers, only missing the loss to Panama and the recent draw with Jamaica due to Greg Berhalter’s decision to rotate his squad against Panama and due to two yellow cards against Mexico.

Because of Robinson’s rise, the questions that once surrounded the back of the right side of the USMNT Center now seem incredibly remote. As long as the Atlanta United defender is healthy and available, all indications are that Robinson started in the USA in the World Cup qualifiers and in the World Cup – if the US arrives in Qatar.
