Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has a heavy meal plan.
Johnson said he starts each day with cardio on an empty stomach, but then fills up his stomach with six to seven meals for the rest of the day, during an interview with Men’s Journal.
“I’ve had a heart attack on an empty stomach – which keeps my metabolism good and tight. That’s how it all begins,” Johnson said. “I eat between six and seven meals a day, and I do my best to make them as balanced as possible with protein, carbs, good fats – and occasional sugar at the right times of the day.”
Cardio exercises on an empty stomach, also known as fasting cardio, are common
Technique. The idea behind fasting cardio as a way to lose weight is that when cardio exercises are done while the body is low on glucose, the body’s main source of energy, it is forced to burn fat for energy instead.
Johnson is a heavy man and won’t change the heart so quickly, but he may still have a purpose
For Johnson who is 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, fasting cardio won’t go a long way in helping him lose weight if he eats a lot throughout the day.
However, if Johnson eats lean protein and good fats, and does regular exercises that burn his calories, fasting cardio exercises may help him stay less fat.
The rock became known for its specific muscles, and blood vessels – prominent, clearly visible veins.
Achieving this vascularization occurs due to the excessive reduction in fat allowing maximum muscle definition, according to Healthline.
Johnson’s way of using fasting cardio to burn fat early in the day may be a key reason why he’s able to gain a lot of muscle while staying defined and fatigued.
