Sources: Colorado Rapids, USYNT duo Darren Yapi and Dantouma “Yaya” Toure training with Arsenal

Yappi, who just turned 17 in November, signed his contract with Homegrown ahead of the 2021 season despite spending most of the year on loan at the Rapids’ USL Championship, Colorado Switchbacks. He scored two goals in 182 minutes spread over 16 matches. He scored 64 goals in 95 games for Rapids Academy before signing his contract with Homegrown, often playing above his age group. The midfielder is a youth international player in the United States, most recently with the Under-17 team.

Tori, 17, signed a domestic deal with the Rapids after they acquired the rights to him from the New York Red Bulls. He scored three goals in 632 minutes with the Switchbacks, spread over 22 games. He made his Major League debut as well, playing three minutes off the bench against the San Jose Earthquakes in July. Like Yappi, the dynamic winger represented the US national team up to the U-17 level.

Arsenal are among the biggest and most popular clubs in England. They are currently sixth in the Premier League and are managed by Mikel Arteta. Local Rapids midfielder Cole Bassett, who is currently with the US senior team, is the top pick for Rapids players who have trained with Arsenal in previous years.

Club Brugge is second in the Belgian league and has been active in the MLS market recently. They acquired Tajon Buchanan from the New England Revolution and secured an offer that LAFC accepted for Diego Rossi. They were also among the clubs seriously interested in Gianluca Busio, Brenden Aaronson and Bryan Reynolds, three players who made big-money transfers from MLS to Europe. Rangers are one of the two biggest clubs in Scotland and many Americans have participated in them over the years.
