Possible rotation by Pioli on Saturday as Liverpool clash beckons for Milan

Milan recovered from two consecutive league defeats with a convincing 3-0 win last night against Genoa. Junior Messias was the man of the match with two goals and increased his chances of starting against Liverpool a lot.

Speaking of the Champions League decisive encounter, it is clear that Stefano Pioli will present the strongest possible squad as Milan still have a chance to qualify. As a result, some players are likely to rest against Salernitana on Saturday.

Starting at the back, it’s clear that Pioli has some tough absences to deal with as well as Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer now too. So against Liverpool we have to see Fikayo Tomori and Alessio Romagnoli in the center of the defence.

For Saturday, we can see Matteo Gabbia from the first minute or perhaps Pierre Calolo, with Alessandro Florenzi playing down the right flank. Romagnoli was suspended last night and can start both matches.

In midfield, Frank Casey should get some rest against Salernitana, but much will depend on the condition of Ismail Bennacer, who has labyrinthitis. Sandro Tonali did not play the full match last night and should be able to start, most likely alongside Timoe Bakayoko.

Up front, Alexis Saelemaekers wants to prove his abilities and is very likely to play initially against Salernitana. Meanwhile, Round 10 is tough as Brahim Diaz needs playing time to get back into shape, but he can also use the rest.

Left, Rafael Liao has been resting a lot lately and should be able to start, but Rade Krunic is always a shout-out in Pioli’s book. Finally, Pietro Pellegri should get a nod before Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Swede can use the rest.

Possible XI against Salernitana (4-2-3-1): Minyan. Florenzi, Calolo (Tomori), Romagnoli, Palo Torri; Bakayoko, Tonale; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Liao (Croney); Pellegri.

Possible 11 against Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Minyan. Calolo, Tomori; Romagnoli, Hernandez; Tonali, Casey; Messias, Diaz, Liao; Ibrahimovic.
