Parents of ‘Dune’ Actor Alicia Witt Found dead in their home

Alicia Witt, known for her roles in the 1984 films “Dune” and “The Walking Dead,” mourns the sudden, mysterious deaths of her mother and father.

Diane Waite, 75, and Robert Waite, 87, were found dead at their home in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Monday.

The discovery came after Witt, who had not heard from her parents for several days, asked her cousin for a health check.

“Unfortunately, the outcome was unimaginable,” Waite, 46, told Worcester’s Telegram & Gazette in a statement. “I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and wrap my head around this turn of events, this surreal loss.”

Kathleen Daly-Shea, director of media relations for the Worcester Police Department, told TODAY Parents that “there were no signs of sinister play” and that the case was still under investigation.

Adam Roach, vice president of firefighting in Worcester, said there were no signs of carbon monoxide on the premises.

“At the time the fire department checked the building, there were no abnormal readings,” Roche told TODAY. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.”

Diane Waite, a former reading specialist, made the Guinness Book of Records in the ’80s for her hair that measured more than 10 feet. Robert Waite was a retired science teacher.

Witt paid tribute to her dad on Instagram earlier this year. In the photo, they are both seen smiling in New England Patriots gear.

“To my wonderful father, wise, fun and always inquisitive, my greatest teacher, and OG Witty,” she wrote. “Here we are before watching @patriots win the Super Bowl in 2015 (on TV, that year). I am very lucky in my dad’s division and I know that every day.”

Witt taught at home until the 12th grade. She made her acting debut at the age of seven in David Lynch’s “Dune” and her career included roles in “The Sopranos”, “Friday Night Lights” and “Orange Is the New Black”.
