North Carolina women’s soccer unveils 9-player recruiting class for 2022

The signature set includes: Sydney Cheesman (Lafayette, Colorado), Madeleine Dahlin (Edina, Minnesota), Torre de la Pierota (Cumming, Georgia), Tessa Delros (Grindston, Pennsylvania), Kate Fas (Phoenix, Arizona), Madeleine Galbus (Wilmington, Del.), Kylie Hair (Cary, North Carolina), Nona the reason (Noblesville, Indiana) and Diamond Theater (Wentzville, Missouri).

“We are very excited for the 2022 class of Tar Heel,” said Dorrance. “Like the class before them, they will be challenged to play early and contribute to all four lines: goalkeeper, defense, midfield and lead. The future is bright.”

The newest group of Tar Heels earned a national number 3 ranking from TopDrawerSoccer.com, the highest in the ACC and the highest among all programs on the East Coast.

UNC’s upcoming nine-player class includes four attackers, three defenders, a midfielder and one goalkeeper. Three of the signers: Dahlien, Delaperuta and Herr were named to the ENCL All-America team this past season.

  • Named in the US Women’s Under-20 National Team Training Camp roster
  • I participated in the virtual camp for the USA Women’s National U-18 team
  • A member of the US national under-16 team that participated in the 2020 UEFA Development Championship in England

Madeleine Dahlin | F | Edina, Minnesota | Edina HS | Minnesota Thunder Academy

  • She took home the ENCL Under-17 Girls Team Awards in 2020-21
  • The 2020-21 ENCL Prize for Girls was voted on at the Midwest U-17 Youth Conference
  • 2021 appointed Ms. Sucker to Minnesota
  • The Minneapolis Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year was named 2021
  • Led Edina to the semi-finals of the 3A MHS Girls’ Soccer Playoffs 2021
  • He placed first in the 100, 200 and 400 meters during the 2021 State Championships in Athletics after finishing second in each of those events in 2019.

Torre de la Perotta | F | Cumming, Georgia | West Forsyth HS | United Football Academy (Ga.)

  • Received the 2020-21 USA TODAY High School Sports Sports Award for Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year
  • Obtained in 2020-21 Honors at United Coaches High School All-America
  • The 2021 Forsyth County MVP was voted as well as the first ENCL Southeast Conference for the first team
  • Led West Forsyth to the first Georgia State Athletics Class 6A Championships in May 2021, scoring the winning goal in the title match
  • When she was young, she scored 54 goals in 20 games, setting a new school record in a single season.
  • Younger sister of a second year student at United Nations University Talia DelapirotaShe is also a member of the women’s soccer team

  • Participated in the training camp of the US women’s national under-20 team in October 2021
  • Named to the 2020 Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association All-State Team
  • Voted for 2019 TDS Fall All-Mid-Atlantic Region and All-Pennsylvania
  • He was a member of the US national under-16 team
  • Named for the 2018-19 ENCL U-16 All-Ohio Valley Conference Team

Kate Fass | F | Phoenix, Arizona | Pinnacle HS | SC del Sol

  • Named the 2019-20 TDS Winter High School All-Arizona and All-West Region
  • Participate in the virtual camp for the US under-18 team during the epidemic
  • Received state-level academic honors as a junior
