Mitchell family takes on nutrition business Game Changer – Mitchell Republic

Mitchell – A mother and daughter duo are rocking the local food and beverage scene by blending a slew of healthy drinks from their new store in North Mitchell.

As a former nurse, Val Friedrich knows how important healthy eating and drinking habits are to the body and mind. After introducing her to Herbalife Nutrition products, Friedrich said they provided her with more life-changing health benefits than other products she had tried.

Now, she and her daughter, Chandler Friedrich, are sharing the benefits of Herbalife with the Mitchell community in the form of drinks and tea from the frontiers of their new business called Game Changer.

“Good nutrition is at the core of everything. All your health problems stem from good nutrition.” “Those who are healthy are not the people who get greasy food every day, they are the ones who watch and care about what they eat. We are proud to offer a healthy option to the community when there are so many fast food places around.”

For Val, owning a small business became a new venture that I found rewarding in the first few months of operating the store, located at 1901 N. Main St. , next to Papa Murphy’s. Game Changer opened in early October under the direction of the first owners, but Val recently bought out the company, which opened in early October.

After several decades of caring for patients as a nurse, Val said she’s ready to make the move in running the business. While there are risks that come with opening a small business, Fall said the proven effectiveness of Game Changer’s Herbalife shakes and teas instilled confidence the way forward.

“I believe in this product,” she said. “During the pandemic, we’ve seen more people take care of their nutrition, and that’s the best way to keep your immune system strong.”

Game Changer Nutrition is located at 1901 N. Main Street in Mitchell and serves a variety of nutritional drinks, and energizing tea and coffee.

Most Game Changer drinks are teas and shakes that usually contain caffeine. The teas are packed with a variety of vitamins meant to help boost the metabolism and immune system, while the shakes are rich in protein, fiber, and vitamins, Val said.

What makes Game Changer teas and shakes so unique, Val said, are the customized blends that can produce a variety of health effects on the body. For example, Fall said that many shakes and teas are made with ingredients that produce mental clarity and greater hydration, while other recipes help control appetite.

Some of the shakes on the menu are meal replacement shakes, which means there are enough ingredients, protein, and other similar nutrients for a full meal of whole foods.

The positive health effects weren’t the only thing that prompted Val to turn to Herbalife products. She said the company’s founder’s personal story was heartfelt and inspiring.

Herbalife was founded in 1980 by the late Mark Hughes. After his mother died of a prescription diet pill overdose, 18-year-old Hughes developed a natural soy-based drink that became the first Herbalife meal replacement drink to hit the market. He started selling the product out of his car in the early 1980s, and became a millionaire within five years of launching Herbalife products.

However, Herbalife has not been without controversy. The company agreed to essentially restructure its business after coming under fire for allegedly running a pyramid scheme. In 2016, as part of a settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission, Herbalife paid a $200 million fine in the wake of the charges.

Fall said the natural and herbal ingredients used to make a variety of Herbalife drinks and teas are what separates the product from other nutrition drinks. She cited the company’s rapid growth and positive results among the millions of customers who use the products as living proof of Herbalife’s effectiveness in overall health improvements and weight management.

“There are a lot of cliched diets out there, but the results for Herbalife have been proven,” Val said.

Chandler, who is also Mitchell’s dental hygienist, has played an integral role in the company’s operations. As a yoga and fitness enthusiast and raising a son, Chandler noted that there weren’t many quick, nutritious, and healthy food options in Mitchell.

“There are a lot of people at Mitchell who care about health and fitness, but there was no healthy food option available. I saw a void,” Chandler said. “Health and fitness is a huge part of my life, and I have a passion for helping people. This was a great opportunity to help people achieve their goals.”
