Mindy Kaling enjoys Thanksgiving with ultra-rare photo of kids during beach outing: ‘What I’m grateful for’

Mindy Kaling gives the world a glimpse into a part of life that you usually keep close to the jacket.

On Thanksgiving, the 42-year-old actress and producer shared on Instagram a rare photo of her daughter, Catherine Swati, 3, and son Spencer Avo, 1, as the eldest shove her baby brother into a stroller during a sunset stroll on the beach.

“What I am grateful for this year,” she commented, over the sudden calm. “Happy thanks everyone.”

The “Mindy Project” star quietly welcomed her son on September 3, 2020, but didn’t reveal her new arrival until more than a month later during an appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” in early October last year.

“I’m saying this for the first time,” she said at the time. “It feels very strange.” “This is news for a lot of people. It’s true.”

Kaling gave birth to her daughter Catherine in late 2017. She has not yet revealed the paternity of either of the children.

She explained the decision in a 2019 interview with Glamor magazine.

“It’s really essential in my life to have something that not everyone knows,” she said. “That’s a limit, but it’s a very small limit. Everything else I have no problem sharing.”

Kaling added, “She just hosted me. I know at some point I’m going to have to do a little more, because it’s not like there’s a dad in the house picking up a bit of a slack.”

“I think that’s another reason I work so hard because I know that when she’s a little older, I want to be able to take more time to spend with her.”

The “Late Night” star has always been aloof about revealing Katherine’s paternity and has offered an honest reason to keep it quiet.

“I feel like until I talk to my daughter about it, I won’t talk to anyone else about it,” she said in a 2019 interview with The New York Times Magazine.
