Milan reignite interest in Fiorentina star as asking price drops from €40m to €15m

AC Milan’s interest in Fiorentina defender Nikola Milinkovic has caught on and could land him for less than half the price previously quoted.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan have long followed Milinkovic as a potential target to bolster the centre-back, but each time they ask Fiorentina’s €40m request to let him go. .

Now, the Serbia international is frequently back on Milan’s radar after Simon Kjeer injured his knee ligaments, and also because La Viola’s demands have completely changed. The newspaper claims that the 24-year-old has already renewed with La Viola and now has a €15m release clause.

Given that he’s a player who knows the league well, still has the potential to grow and won’t cost anywhere close to his market value, this pretty much looks like a bit of an Elliott Management deal.
