Manchester United: Sascha Lense, sports psychologist, set to join Ralf Rangnick’s backroom staff

Sports psychologist Sasha Lens is set to become Ralph Rangnick’s second appointment at Manchester United.

The 46-year-old visited United’s base in Carrington today and was introduced to the players, but he will not start work until the visa process is complete.

He will join United on the training side rather than the medical side.

United are also hoping to add Chris Armas to Rangnick’s coaching staff in the coming days. The American previously managed the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC after his football career with the Long Island Rough Riders, LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire.

Rangnick previously discussed bringing in his coaches. Last week, he said: “Obviously I’ll try to find one, two, three people who can join us in a week or two, but given the Brexit laws, it’s not very easy.

“Many of my former teammates, regardless of whether the video analysts or the assistant coaches have long-term contracts with the big clubs so they are not available at the moment and we have to be a bit smart and find the right people.

“Hopefully we can get them here in the next week or two, but I can’t tell you any names.”
