  • The average starting age for the eleventh is 26 years old, making it the youngest squad to start in the USWNT since April 5, 2018.
  • This will be the first time since April 9, 2013, that the United States will publish the starting lineup for every player under the age of 30.
  • Lindsey Horan and Terna Davidson are the only two players in the starting lineup to start last with Matilda in the Olympic Bronze Medal Match on August 5, 2021. Rose Lavell and Emily Sonnett also saw the excitement of that match against Matildas as second-half substitutes.
  • Today’s starting lineup is 34 international matches with Houran (107 international matches), the only player to have played more than 100 international matches. After Houran, LaVelle (67 caps) and Sonnett (62) are the most experienced players in this squad while five players – Pierce (8), Fox (7), Cook (3), Hatch (3) and Murphy (1) have under 10 caps.
  • Lindsey Horan She will earn her 107th career title as she leads the USWNT for the second time, with the first coming on October 21, 2021, in her 100th match of the celebration. Horan, who will wear the No. 10 shirt for the first time in her career, is the only player on this list to score against Matildas, and scored the equalizer against Australia during the 2018 Nations Championship.
  • A goal keeper Casey Murphy She will make her international debut, becoming the 240th player overall and the 25th goalkeeper to win an international cap with the United States women’s national team. The 25-year-old Murphy is the fourth different goalkeeper to start at the USWNT in 2021.
  • Murphy became the sixth player to earn his first cap under coach Vlatko Andonovsky, joining Cook, Pierce, Sophia Smith, Jalen Howell and Macario.
  • Bethany Buckler, Ashley Sanchez and Morgan Weaver can also join this group if they see the pitch against Matildas.
  • Emily Sonnet She would make her 16th appearance and seventh start of the year as she earned her 62nd cap overall for the USWNT. Sonnett, who celebrated her 28th birthday on Thursday, 25 November, made two assists of the year and played the full 90 minutes in her last three games for the US.
  • Tender Davidson She will appear for the seventh consecutive time at UWNT as she earns her 45th cap overall. Davidson played a full 90 minutes in each of USA’s games against Matildas at the Tokyo Olympics. The 23-year-old Davidson is the fourth youngest player on this list but ranks sixth in overall matches.
  • Alana Cook It is scheduled to make its third debut in what will be its third cap overall for the USWNT. Cook made her USWNT debut in November 2019 against Costa Rica and also started and played the full 90 minutes in the United States’ 6-0 win over Colombia earlier this year on January 22.
  • Emily Fox She will appear for the third time in a row and her second consecutive appearance for the United States of America. This will be Fox’s fourth international appearance this year and seventh international appearance overall for the senior national team.
  • Andy Sullivan She will make her second consecutive debut in what will be her 21st appearance overall in the USWNT. Sullivan, who captained the Washington Spirit for the 2021 NWSL Championship, has two goals and an assist in her previous five games for the USA in 2021.
  • Rose Lavelle is set to make her 21st appearance of the year in the USWNT as she took the 67th cap. Lavelle has scored 17 goals and 11 assists in her international career and will make her fifth career appearance against Matildas.
  • Margaret “Midge” Bourse She is set to make her sixth appearance this year for the United States, in what would be her fourth career start and eight international appearances overall. Purce has two international goals, both scored this year. Her last goal for the United States came on June 13 against Jamaica, also in her latest appearance. Pierce started the game on the right wing, scoring in the 22nd minute and playing the full-back outside throughout the second half.
  • NWSL Golden Boot winner Ashley Hatch is set to start her first career in what will be her third title overall with the USWNT and first since 2018. Hatch made her international debut in October of 2016 with a substitute appearance against Switzerland and finished second she has. Cap against Mexico on 5 April 2018, when I took the lead in the 80th minute.
  • Lynn Williams She will make her 44th international appearance with her ninth debut this year and her first since September 16 against Paraguay. Williams is the most experienced striker on the list in Australia’s matches with 43 caps. The other five strikers on the list have combined in 19 international matches.
