Football High Live: Scores, updates, highlights from the 1A-6A state semifinals

Five teams will participate in first place tonight, in a bid to reach the Super 7 next week at Birmingham’s new Protective Stadium.

Tonight’s state semifinal rounds include the top-rated teams in 6A (Clay-Chalkville), 5A (Pike Road), 4A (Madison Academy), 3A (Montgomery Catholic), and 1A (Brantley).

These teams will try to join Thompson and Central-Phenix City, who have already earned places in the Class 7A game.

7:11 p.m. Vigor replies: Anthony Mix Jr. with a 62-yard pass to Chris Agee. Mix with TD run. The wolves respond to Jackson TD with one of them. It’s 7-7 with 8:12 remaining in the first quarter of the 4A semi-finals.

7:08 PM, 8 probably won’t be enough.…but Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa leads Hueytown 8-0 early after a spin at the start.

7:06 PM Nahas Al-Ahsa Entry into force for the Montgomery Academy vs. Montgomery Catholic rematch in Class 3A.

7:05 p.m., blind landing: Walter Taylor III hits Tylen Campbell with a 31-yard TD pass. Jackson takes TD’s opening match against Vigor. Aggies lead 7-0.

7:02 p.m., rotation begins: Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa forced and regained his stumble in the opening game in Hueytown. Hillcrest with the ball at Hueytown 25.

6:56 PM, potential customer alert: He’s not in Alabama, but top 2023 QB Arch Manning gears up to win the state title tonight in Louisiana. Manning is the number one prospect in the country as a junior, according to 247 ratings.

6:50 p.m., replay of the match on mobile: It will host Vigor Jackson in the 4A semifinals at Blount High School. The Wolves defeated the Aggies 39-13 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium earlier this year. Jackson has not lost since.

6:46 p.m., Panther Pride: Mars Hill is also trying to get back in the state championship match. The Panthers face Cleveland tonight in the 2A semifinals. We are less than 15 minutes away.

6:44 PM, back to Super 7: Pleasant Grove will attempt a comeback for the third year in a row tonight against surprising Fairview. The Spartans lost in each of the last 2 titles of Category 5A games.

6:37 p.m. Attack vs. Defense: Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Tonight may not be the 6A semi-final between high-octane Clay Chalkville and Scrooge Brook Mountain.

6:30 pm Mr. Football? Is the man under Mister Football? Earl Woods put in some huge numbers for Hueytown this fall. Tonight he hopes to get Gopers for the title game Category 6A.

6:12 p.m., New Woodlawn Stadium: The Birmingham Board of Education this week approved an $8.7 million bid to build the soccer field at Woodlawn High School. See the full story here.

1:05 p.m., narrow it down: Florence 2023 DB Jahlil Hurley trimmed his college options to Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia and Michigan today. He plans to commit on January 22nd.
