Charleston, Virginia – Senator Joe Manchin (DW.Va) presented the Award for Excellence in Mental Health Law with bipartisan support last week after co-sponsoring that law with Senator Shelley Moore Capito (RW.Va.).
The Mental Health Excellence Act would allow “any state to participate in the demonstration program of accredited community behavioral health centers” as well as create a funding option to support their operations.
The law was discussed during a roundtable at the Rockefeller Institute for Neurosciences at WVU in Morgantown, where Senator Manchin met with the CEO of the West Virginia Behavioral Health Care Providers Association (WVBHPA), Mark Drennan.
“We are extremely proud to receive this support from Senator Manchin,” said Mark Drennan, CEO of WVBHPA. “The senator’s support represents another step closer to our goal of fundamentally changing the way behavioral health services are delivered, not just in West Virginia, but across the country.”
