Carrick says he has yet to speak to incoming Man United boss Rangnick

Ralph Rangnick is set to make sweeping changes at Manchester United over the next six months or so.

The new interim coach hopes to put his own stamp on actions on and off the field before taking on an advisory role at the end of the season.

To implement these changes, the 63-year-old will be given a license to add reinforcements in the transfer window.

It was reported that United will give their new man a £100m budget in January to bolster the squad to his liking.

Newcomers will naturally cause a few players to go the other way, with Rangnick set to trim a team that has underperformed this season.

Here are six players who could leave Old Trafford while Rangnick takes the helm at the club.

Edinson Cavani

Uruguay has six months left on his current deal, but it is unlikely that he will sign an extension with Rangnick’s arrival.

Cavani has done business with United in the short term with their lack of the traditional No. 9 dating back to last season.

It was a great end to the second half of last year, but he has not carried over that level into the current season, partly because of injuries, but also because of the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who played in his position.

Rangnick is likely to target a striker in the summer with Erling Haaland at the top of his shortlist, leading to Cavani’s exit.

Reports in Spain have reported that Barcelona are keen to make a move for the talisman, a deal that could materialize in January.

Paul Pogba

The Frenchman is another United player with an expired contract who is set to leave the club in the summer.

The club were desperate for the midfielder to extend his stay under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but contract talks have collapsed on several occasions.

It remains to be seen what Rangnick’s plans are regarding Pogba, but his game certainly does not fit into the new coach’s high-pressure style of football.

It doesn’t look like Pogba was going to stay beyond this season, but the arrival of Rangnick fully confirmed that.

Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba may leave Manchester United for free next summer

Jesse Lingard

The midfielder is also ready to be a free agent at the end of the season and has made it clear that he wants regular first-team football after being frozen by Solskjaer this season.

But unlike Pogba, Rangnick’s arrival could change Lingard’s position.

He’s a player who fits well into the manager’s system, and if he can make his way into his plans, it won’t be a foregone conclusion.

Meanwhile, Lingard may only want a change of scenery after a frustrating few years in Manchester amid reports that he is looking to join a team in Europe.

Diogo Dalot

All signs point to Diogo Dalot leaving United in the summer, but he ended up staying in place after an impressive loan spell with Milan.

This decision indicated that he would be given a chance to compete for his claim to the team, but the full-back struggled to play under Solskjaer.

The 22-year-old has made just 24 Premier League appearances since joining from Porto in June 2018 as Jose Mourinho led him to the Red Devils.

And the latest reports indicate that the Portuguese coach is keen to be reunited with Dalot in Rome as he appears set to leave United in the summer.

The winger lived out his moments in a United shirt, but he never lived up to his potential.

And this season was one of the most forgotten seasons for the French player, led by Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Ronaldo.

Barcelona were said to be willing to give him a fresh start, but either way, it looks like his time at United is coming to an end.

The Dutchman needed time to adjust to life in the Premier League, but that’s not something he got.

Solskjaer wasn’t ready to give him a chance despite his long-lost first-team stars.

Fans have been begging for Van de Beek’s release, but to no avail.

The playmaker is reportedly unhappy with the way he has been treated and is looking to move elsewhere in January.

Rangnick’s arrival may change his mind, but there’s also the possibility that it may be too late.
