Foot: Manchester United 3-2 Arsenal
Manchester United won an absolutely thrilling game against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Arsenal opened the scoring with one of the most controversial goals in Premier League history after just 13 minutes.
David De Gea was injured when Fred inadvertently stepped on his heel during a corner kick and Emile Smith Rowe noticed the net was open so he fired from the edge of the penalty area.
After a lengthy consultation on the VAR, referee Martin Atkinson awarded the goal for North London.
United were furious but equalized just a minute before halftime when Jadon Sancho split from the left and found Fred, who replayed himself with a superb shot towards Bruno Fernandes that allowed him to score in his 100th appearance for the club.
The hosts changed things in the 52nd minute when the visitors left plenty of open space on the right flank allowing Marcus Rashford to put Cristiano Ronaldo in his 800th career goal.
But Mikel Arteta’s men responded just two minutes later when Alex Telles forgot Gabriel Martinelli from the right and the striker passed to Martin Odegaard in the penalty area where he equalized.
Despite this, Odegaard proved to be an utterly tragic figure as Fred fouled inside his own penalty area and referee Atkinson pointed at the spot after checking the VAR monitor.
Ronaldo beat Aaron Ramsdale in the 70th minute with a neat finish that gave United a big win
