Olivier Giroud was injured in the midweek match against Atlético Madrid, and had to leave the field in the second half. It looks like he’ll be out for a while and that’s bad news for Milan.
The French striker, as reported by Calciomercato.com, will need further checks within ten days, and fears he will miss the rest of 2021. If so, he will miss between five and seven matches for Milan.
Among these are the confrontations against Liverpool and Napoli, in which the Rossoneri will need Zlatan Ibrahimovic in good shape. They don’t want to overwork the Swede, so as Calciomercato.com points out, Stefano Pioli has two other options.
The injured Pietro Pellegri was the first. He is not included in the Champions League squad but could play an important role in the “less difficult” matches of Serie A, such as Salernitana and Empoli.
In addition to the loan candidate Monaco, Pioli could field Rafael Liao in the No. 9 role, with Rade Krunic or perhaps even Alexis Sailemakerz in the role of the left winger. The young Portuguese player has played a lot lately but has proven to be very important.
