Greenfield, MA (AP) – A Massachusetts nonprofit that provides mental health services to children overcoming sexual and physical abuse has received a $100,000 donation.

Officials told The Recorder that the donation to the Children’s Defense Center in Greenfield, Franklin County and North Quabbin Inc. It will be distributed over 10 years.

Director Erin Woods said the funds would go a long way to support the center’s services and annual budgeting. The nonprofit is funded almost entirely by grants or donations.

She said the rolling donation from Gagne Wealth Management Group will be used to expand mental health services at the center, so that children who report abuse can receive free and consistent care.

Rather than having to be referred to a different agency that can be expensive and require insurance, Woods said children will be able to come to the Children’s Advocacy Center for mental health support.

Meryl Gagne, of Gagne Wealth Management Group, said he wanted the rolling donation to support and advance the center’s mission.
