Earlier this month, Los Angeles Judge Brenda Penny formally ended Spears’ personal and estate protections, just two months after Spears’ father, Jimmy Spears, was suspended from his role as Britney’s governor — a position he held for nearly 13-year conservation.

“The court finds and decides that guardianship of person and property is no longer required,” Judge Penny said in court on November 12, “therefore, the guardianship of person and property of Britney Jean Spears, in effect today… this is hereby terminated.”

A source previously told PEOPLE that Britney described the day her guardianship ended as “the best day of her life.”

“She was crying and laughing at the same time,” the source explained. “It was hard for her to understand that it was over after so many years. She is so grateful to everyone who helped her.”
