Bridgeport man to appear on celebrity Facebook show that promotes mental health in the Black community

BRIDGEPORT – A local man will appear on a Facebook program on Monday to show what he’s doing to boost the spirits of children in need.

Harry Bell, 37, a school security resources officer at Wilbur Cross School, will speak on Actress Traji Henson’s “Peace of Mind” program on Facebook with 11 million followers.

Henson’s show theme is “Changing the Perception of Mental Health in the Black Community – One Story at a Time,” according to her Facebook page.

Bell will appear on Facebook Watch for 30 minutes on Monday noon, and will be available to watch for about a week.

In the show, Bell will talk about a non-profit organization he created in Bridgeport called “Color a Positive Idea” that aims to build youth and connect with the community. It primarily serves the city’s underserved youth and communities.

“I’ve had this organization for about eight years,” said Bill, a father of three. It all started with a coloring book I created called Coloring a Positive Thought. “

This 12-page coloring book, intended for students in grades 1-4, is all about turning negative situations into positive ones.

Bell said the book “doubled in size”, and “gained huge popularity” among young people in the city
