Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka was substituted against Newcastle after he complained of a muscle problem.
The England international fell clutching his left leg shortly after breaking the deadlock in Arsenal’s 2-0 win and it seems likely that our trip to Old Trafford will be in doubt.
Asked about the suite’s update at his post-match press conference, the president said: “It was an event where he said he felt something.
“He was not comfortable continuing. We will have to assess him tomorrow and maybe scan him to see if there is any injury.
“He felt something muscular and let’s see what it is.”
Gabriel Martinelli replaced Saka and scored a goal with just a second touch. The Brazilian will be hoping his influence will earn him what will be just a third start in the Premier League on Thursday.
