Ambrosini explains why Kalulu doesn’t fit as a centre-back for Milan just yet

Pierre Calulu has impressed Stefano Pioli recently and thus he’s been given more playing time. Milan is happy with his development and it is clear that he is the name of the future.

Since joining the squad last year, the Frenchman has been used primarily as a right-back but also as a central defender and even as a left-back. In short, its versatility has come in handy for Beuli even though his prime position is obvious.

Speaking to RadioRossonera, as reported by MilanNews, former AC Milan player and captain Massimo Ambrosini shared his thoughts on Calulu’s season so far. He stated that the youngster still had a way to play in central defense regularly.

“I love him, he is a boy who has gained confidence along the way. Now he also plays with a pinch of recklessness, which is a sign of confidence and an increase in self-esteem. I prefer when he is a defender, as a center back you need a more complex explanation, the coaches say. He has running and athletic ability to make him a good choice for the ultimate centre-back.”

Kalulu should play the match against Liverpool next week from the start and it will be a great opportunity for him to show his qualities. Milan need to win in order to have a chance to advance so the players need to be at their best.
