If you’re a Costco Wholesale member, you understand the hype behind the retailer where you can buy a TV and your groceries at the same time. I try to make a monthly visit to my local Costco because sometimes they have better deals than the local supermarket. Plus, my Costco relocation tends to take longer and I don’t have to replenish my food inventory as often.

If you’re lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy, Costco offers plenty of dairy-free options that are shelf-stable. I get six packs of Costco Unsweetened Almond Milk every two months, and love using it as the base for my daily protein shake or smoothie. The neutral vanilla taste blends well with most bases without being overpowering.

If you’re allergic to nut-based milk, another great dairy-free option is Costco’s six-pack of oat milk. The flavor is a little sweeter, and if you’re watching your sugar intake, it’s important to read the food label because this version contains sugar – and no unsweetened ones are available yet. I also noticed that after a few uses the nozzle on the box seemed to fall off due to moisture, something to consider when buying a box.

One of my favorite things to buy from Costco is almond butter. For a 27-ounce jar at $9, it lasts me months and is affordable, especially compared to the smaller jars at local grocery stores that often sell for much more.

Buying your favorite healthy grains in bulk is a good way to keep yourself well stocked if you eat them on a regular basis. Costco sells white, brown, jasmine, and basmati rice in different bags and sizes. Depending on your site, I’ve found that large bags of rice can last me a few months or so depending on how often I cook it on a weekly basis.

If you are trying to increase your protein intake or trying to meet your daily quota, it is beneficial to have proteins readily available at home. Costco sells many animal proteins such as chicken breast, ground beef and various cuts of meat, and they are great options to buy and freeze for later. Prices will vary per pound. I buy a big box of chicken breasts and divide them into separate zip-top bags that I freeze and thaw every week when I prepare meals.

The store also sells cartons of twenty eggs in its refrigerated aisle, which is a good option as long as your family eats or cooks with eggs regularly. Eggs are a good source of protein that is full of B vitamins, vitamin D, zinc and other nutrients that are essential for your health.

Costco also offers a pack of liquid egg whites that come in six 16-ounce cartons. Egg whites are a good option to buy if you want to use them with omelets or smoothies or want an easy way to sneak protein into your diet. The only downside to egg whites is that the cartons take up a fair amount of space, so you need to consider if your refrigerator is big enough to hold them all.

Some cooking oils have qualities that can provide health benefits to you and your family. For example, studies have found that olive oil is known to be high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Costco carries different types of oils in liter or liter containers. I usually buy a 2-liter EVOO bottle, which can easily last me several months at a time.

Buying frozen fruit in bulk is a good way to cut costs, enjoy produce that has not been seasoned and still get your daily ration. In fact, frozen products are high in nutritional content because the items are frozen at their peak. Costco sells many frozen fruits in 4- or 5.5-pound bags, as well as acai juice packages. You may have noticed that a small bag of nuts can be pricey at local supermarkets, but Costco sorts it out by giving you more bang for your buck. The store also has popular brands like Planters and Wonderful Pistachios in snack packs.

Costco sells a variety of fresh produce in large enough quantities to keep you well stocked. There is a selection of everything from berries, grapes, and oranges to cauliflower, onion salads, potatoes, and more. It’s the perfect place to buy produce in bulk if you’re trying to feed a family of four or trying to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. I try to keep bags of mixed greens or spinach on hand because I find it’s an easy way to add greens to my diet without a lot of prep work. Since I buy these items often, I find they’re worth getting from Costco because their packaging contains more servings and can last more than two weeks without spoiling.
